Abstract

The increasing degradation of the environment has made people more aware of and concerned both developed and developing economies. The fact that individuals are largely blamed with this degradation has put a stronger focus on the attitude and behavior of individual consumers toward the environment with a view to mitigating the problems related to pollution and natural resources depletion. This paper aims to review extent literature on environmental consciousness and its antecedents. Based on a multidimensional perspective, this paper also proposes a framework to clarify the linkages between predictor variables and environmentally conscious behavior.
