Factors Related to Private Vocational Student's Decision Making on Their Further Study

Abstract

วัตถุประสงค์ของการวิจัยเรื่องนี้มี 3 ประการคือ (1) เพื่อศึกษาภูมิหลังของนักเรียนอาชีวศึกษาเอกชนที่มีความต้องการศึกษาต่อ และไม่ต้องการศึกษาต่อในระดับที่สูงขึ้น (2) เพื่อศึกษาความสำคัญของตัวแปรที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการตัดสินใจเลือกศึกษาต่อของนักเรียนอาชีวศึกษาเอกชนและ (3) เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างปัจจัยของสถานศึกษาที่ต้องการศึกษาต่อกับการตัดสินใจเลือกศึกษาต่อของนักเรียนอาชีวศึกษาเอกชน  การออกแบบการวิจัยประชากรที่ศึกษา เป็นนักเรียนที่กำลังศึกษาหลักสูตรพาณิชยการ และบริหารธุรกิจ ชั้นปีที่ 3 ปีการศึกษา 2545 จากโรงเรียนเอกชน 8 โรงเรียน ในเขตจังหวัดชลบุรี และฉะเชิงเทรา รวม 4,866 คน กลุ่มตัวอย่างได้จากการสุ่มแบบแบ่งชั้นภูมิ ได้กลุ่มตัวอย่าง 408 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวม ข้อมูลเป็นแบบสอบถาม 1 ฉบับ แบ่งเป็น 3 ตอน คือ ตอนที่ 1 ถามภูมิหลังของนักเรียน ตอนที่ 2 ถามความสำคัญของตัวแปร ความต้องการที่เกี่ยวพันกับการตัดสินใจเลือกศึกษาต่อ ตอนที่ 3 ถามลักษณะของสถานศึกษาและลักษณะการบริหารจัดการ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลคือ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ยความเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน t-test และสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า นักเรียนอาชีวศึกษาเอกชน ปีที่ 3 ส่วนมากเป็นเพศหญิง อายุเฉลี่ย อยู่ระหว่าง 18-19 ปี มีผลการเรียนเฉลี่ย ส่วนมากอยู่ในระดับพอใช้ได้ หรือปานกลาง รายได้ของครอบครัวส่วนมากค่อนข้างต่ำ บิดามารดาส่วนมาก ประกอบอาชีพเป็นลูกจ้างหลังจากจบการศึกษาระดับ ปวช. แล้วส่วนมากต้องการศึกษาต่อ ตัวแปรที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการตัดสินใจเลือก ศึกษาต่อคือต้องการพัฒนาตนเอง ต้องการพัฒนาทางอาชีพ ต้องการตอบสนองความต้องการของผู้เกี่ยวข้อง และต้องการพัฒนาสถานภาพทางสังคม ตามลำดับ ปัจจัยของสถานศึกษามีความสัมพันธ์กับการตัดสินใจเลือกศึกษาต่อ อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .01 ปัจจัยของสถานศึกษาคือ ปัจจัยด้านโรงเรียนที่สำคัญได้แก่ หลักสูตรที่เปิดสอนที่ตั้งของโรงเรียน ภาพพจน์ของโรงเรียน ตามลำดับ และปัจจัยการบริหารจัดการ ที่สำคัญได้แก่ ความรู้ ความสามารถและการปฏิบัติตนของครู ระบบการจัดการภายในสภาพแวดล้อม และระบบการแนะแนวและจัดหางานตามลำดับ  Factors Related to Private Vocational Student's Decision Making on Their further Study The purposes of this study were the following: 1. To find out general background of vocational school students who decided to further their study as well as not to further their study.  2. To study the influence of factors affecting their decision on further study.  3. To study the relationship between various characteristics of the educational institutions and their decision. Research Methodology The population in this study was third-year students studying commerce and business administration drawn from 8 private schools in Chonburi and Chacheongsao provinces in academic year 2545, totaling 4,866 students. Stratified sampling method was employed to draw 408 students from the population as the sample for the study. A questionnaire was used to collect the data for the study. The questionnaire was divided into 3 sections. The first dealt with general background of the respondents. The second section related to factors taken into consideration in the decision making process. The last involved the kind of educational institutions and the management preferred by the students. Techniques employed for the data analysis included mean, standard deviation, t-test and correlation.  Conclusion Most of the respondents were female with an average age of 18-19 years. Generally their grades was neither poor nor good. Most of them grades was neither poor nor good. Most of them belonged to low income families. Their parents were low-level employees. Most of the respondents wanted to further their study after the graduation.  The variables given for their decision making to further the study, in order of importance, included the desire to improve themselves, to enhance prospect for better job opportunity, to please related persons, and to improve their social status.  Educational institution factors significantly correlated at the .01 level with decision making to further the study. The respondents looked at several criteria for the choice of characteristics of the institution: the curriculum, location and image respectively. Also, the choice of institution management included the competency of the teachers, internal administration, environment and job placement service respectively.
