Motorcycle – taxi Drivers and Risk of Benzene Exposure in Chon Buri Province

Abstract

การศึกษานี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อทราบรูปแบบพฤติกรรมเสี่ยง และปัจจัยที่มีอิทธิพลต่อการเกิดพฤติกรรมเสี่ยงสัมผัสสารเบนซีนของผู้ประกอบอาชีพขับรถจักรยานยนต์รับจ้างในจังหวัดชลบุรีรวมถึงภูมิหลัง และปัจจัยทางสังคม โดยการออกไปสังเกตการณ์สถานที่ประกอบการและสภาพแวดล้อม สัมภาษณ์ผู้ประกอบอาชีพ และวิเคราะห์ ระดับเบนซีนในอากาศโดยการตรวจแบบพื้นที่และแบบติดตัวคนทำงาน จากการศึกษาพบว่ามีการเสี่ยงสัมผัสแน่นอนทั้งด้านพฤติกรรมและการมีสารพิษในสิ่งแวดล้อม  The objective of this study was to determine the pattern of risky situations faced by motorcycle-taxi drivers with regard to benzene exposure, and behavioral factors rendering them vulnerable to risks. The study was conducted by walk-through observation, interviewing the drivers and measuring the atmospheric benzene levels at their work stations and when they shuttle passengers to and from their destinations. The findings conclude that, under the current situation, motorcycle-taxi drivers could not escape benzene expo-sure while on the job, based on their personal behavior and autual circumstantial facts.
