ทฤษฎีว่าด้วยการพัฒนาของวอลท์ วิทแมน รอสตาวกับบทบาทของประเทศมหาอำนาจ: ข้อถกเถียงเชิงปรัชญาสังคมศาสตร์

Abstract

          เมื่อเอ๋ยถึงประเด็นว่าด้วยการพัฒนา ทฤษฎีของวอลท์ วิทแมน รอสตาวเป็นทฤษฎีสำคัญที่มักถูกเสมอในการวิเคราะห์บทบาทของประเทศมหาอำนาจ ในเชิงปรัญาสัมคมศาสตร์ รูปแบบของภววิทยา ญาณวิทยา และวิธีวิทยาของทฤษฎีดังกล่าว ได้สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงพื้นฐานของวิธีการอธิบายปรัญญาสัมคมศาสตร์แบบปฏิฐานนิยมอย่างเห็นได้ชัด ในแง่ของระดับการวิเคราหะทฤษฎีดังกล่าวถูกจัดอยู่ในระดับองค์รวมที่สามารถนำมาอธิบายบทบาทของสหรัฐอเมริกาในการให้ความช่วยเหลือการพัฒนาของประเทศโลกที่สาม นอกจากนี้ หากวิเคราห์ทษฎีผ่านแนวการวิเคราะห์ทางการเมืองต่างๆ ภาพที่น่าสนใจ คือ มิติของ “วาระแห่งการพัฒนา” ที่สหรัฐอเมริกาในฐานะผู้นำค่ายโลกเสรีประชาธิปไตยกำลังดำเนินนโยบายแย่งชิงพื้นที่ทางอุดมการณ์กับลัทธิคอมมิวนิสต์ที่นำโดยโซเวียตในช่วงสงครามเย็น และข้อสรุปของแนวคิดว่าด้วยการพัฒนาที่แตกต่างกันออกไป           When mentioning on an issue of development, Walt Whitman Rostow’s theory is the crucial theory usually cited in analyzing roles of great powers. In terms of social philosophy, ontology, epistemology, and methodology of such theory have explicitly reflected the positivism as a foundation of social philosophy’s explanation. Regarding to a level of analysis, Rostow’s theory employed’  collectivism” level enabling us to explain the roles of the United States of America in helping the third world countries’ development. Moreover, when analyzing such theory through several political approaches, the interesting phenomenon is the ‘developmental agenda’ which the US as the leader of capitalist democracy had been struggling an ideological space with the communist camp led by the USSR during the Cold War. An analysis via philosophy of social science broadens us on perspectives, explanations, and conclusions of such theory in differing ways.
