Abstract

          ในภาคตะวันออก อำนาจทางการเมืองมีลักษณะกระจายไปยังจังหวัดต่างๆ ทั้งภูมิภาคไม่ได้รวมศูนย์อำนาจไว้ในมือกำนันเป๊าะแต่เพียงผู้เดียว เนื่องจากใจแต่ละจังหวัดต่างก็มีชนชั้นนำท้องถิ่นที่สถาปนาอำนาจผ่านตระกูลทางการเมืองที่แตกต่างกันไปตามบริบทของแต่ละจังหวัด โดยชนชั้นนำท้องถิ่นเหล่านี้เป็นผู้มีบทบาทในการครอบงำการตัดสินใจทางการเมืองของประชาชนในจังหวัดต่างๆของภาคตะวันออก ดังนั้น กำนันเป๊าะจึงไม่ใช่ “เจ้าพ่อภาคตะวันออก” ผู้ครอบงำการเมืองภาคตะวันออก อย่างที่นักวิชาการบางคนเข้าใจ           In eastern region, the political power is distributed to the provinces all over the region has never been centralized only in the hand of Kamnan Poh, Kamnan means village headman, who was Chonburi headman.
