Effects of STEM Education Through Case-Based Learning on Knowledge and Attitudes Towards Aging Among Second-Year Nursing Students at Suan Dusit University

Abstract

การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อเปรียบเทียบคะแนนเฉลี่ยความรู้และทัศนคติก่อนและหลังการใช้การเรียนรู้แบบสะเต็ม (STEM Education) ผ่านกรณีศึกษา (Case-based learning) เป็นฐานในการเรียนรายวิชาการพยาบาลผู้สูงอายุของนักศึกษาพยาบาลชั้นปีที่ 2 มหาวิทยาลัยสวนดุสิต  จำนวนกลุ่มตัวอย่าง 151 คน เก็บข้อมูลเดือนธันวาคม 2565 ถึงเดือนมกราคม 2566 เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยประกอบด้วย(1) แบบบันทึกข้อมูลพื้นฐาน (2) กรณีศึกษาจำนวน 8 case (case -based learning)  (3)แบบประเมินความรู้และแบบประเมินทัศนคติต่อผู้สูงอายุในเชิงบวกและเชิงลบ ผ่านการตรวจสอบความเที่ยงตรงโดยผู้เชี่ยวชาญจำนวน 3 คน ได้ค่าความตรงตามเนื้อหา 1.00  ค่าความเชื่อมั่นเท่ากับ 0.86  การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนาและสถิติเปรียบเทียบ paired t-test   ผลการวิจัยพบว่าความรู้เกี่ยวกับผู้สูงอายุของนักศึกษาหลังการใช้การเรียนรู้แบบ STEM ผ่าน Case- based learning เพิ่มขึ้นและทัศนคติต่อผู้สูงอายุหลังใช้การเรียนรู้แบบ STEM ผ่าน Case based learning เพิ่มขึ้นอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p <0.01) ข้อเสนอแนะการจัดการเรียนการสอนให้นักศึกษาพยาบาลมีความรู้และมีทัศนคติที่ดีต่อผู้สูงอายุ เข้าใจถึงความสำคัญของผู้สูงอายุ สามารถนำความรู้เชื่อมโยงสู่การทำงานร่วมกันในสังคมของผู้สูงอายุอย่างสมบูรณ์ นอกจากนั้นการนำผลการวิจัยไปออกแบบกิจกรรมในการเสริมสร้างทัศนคติที่ต่อผู้สูงอายุในหน่วยงานต่างๆ ได้  This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of STEM Education through case-based learning in enhancing knowledge and attitudes toward aging among second-year nursing students at Suan Dusit University. A total of 151 students from the Faculty of Nursing participated in this research, with data collection conducted between December 2022 and January 2023. Research instruments included knowledge questionnaires and assessments of both positive and negative attitudes toward older adults. The content validity, established by three experts, yielded a high validity rating of 1.00, while the reliability coefficient stood at 0.86. Data analysis was performed through descriptive statistics and paired sample T-tests. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in student’s knowledge about aging following the implementation of STEM Education through case-based learning. Additionally, there was a statistically significant increase in positive attitudes towards aging (p < 0.01) post-intervention. Based on these findings, it is recommended that nursing students receive instruction that fosters not only knowledge but also a positive disposition towards the elderly. This integrated approach equips students with the understanding of the older adults’ significance and the ability to apply their knowledge to promote the full integration of older adults into society. Furthermore, the research outcomes can be utilized to formulate tailored activities aimed at enhancing attitudes towards older adults across various departments.
