เยี่ยมยาม...เบิ่งหีบห่อลาว

Abstract

          บทความวิชาการนี้กล่าวถึงการเยี่ยมเยือนประเทศสาธารณรัฐประชาธิปไตยประชาชนลาว และสังเกตการใช้หีบห่อของลาวในเส้นทางท่องเที่ยว 3 เมืองสำคัญได้แก่ หลวงพระบาง วังเวียง และเวียงจันทน์ เป็นการเดินทางจากตอนเหนือสู่ตอนกลางของประเทศ พบว่าหีบห่อที่ใช้มีความแตกต่างกันตามลักษณะภูมิประเทศ ความเป็นอยู่ ทรัพยากรและความเจริญเติบโตของเมือง เริ่มสำรวจเมืองแรกที่หลวงพระบางซึ่งอยู่ทางตอนเหนือ มีภูมิประเทศคล้ายแหลม มีแม่น้ำโขงและแม่น้ำคานขนาบสองด้าน ทำให้มีความอุดมสมบูรณ์ของพืชพรรณและอาหาร อากาศและผู้คนคล้ายภาคเหนือของไทย และเนื่องจากหลวงพระบางเป็นเมืองมรดกโลกทางวัฒนธรรมในฐานะที่เป็นเมือง “อนุรักษ์ความเก่าแก่ดั้งเดิมไว้ได้ดีที่สุดในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้” ทำให้มีแนวคิดเชิงอนุรักษ์รวมถึงการหีบห่อ เน้นการใช้หีบห่อจากวัสดุธรรมชาติประเภทใบตองและไม้ไผ่ ภายใต้รูป แบบที่สวยงาม และเป็นเอกลักษณ์แบบหลวงพระบาง ในขณะที่การเดินทางเข้าสู่เมืองที่สองคือวังเวียง เมืองท่องเที่ยวเชิงกิจกรรมผจญภัย ที่มีทั้งภูเขาและแม่น้ำซองไหลผ่าน พบการใช้หีบห่อจากวัสดุธรรมชาติสำหรับของป่าและผลิตผลจากแม่น้ำ ที่ส่วนใหญ่ทำจากไม้ไผ่ รูปแบบสวยงามตามภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น ทั้งสองเมืองยังคงเลือกใช้หีบห่อจากวัสดุธรรมชาติโดยการห่อ ผูกมัดรัดร้อยรองรับ บรรจุและเสียบหนีบ ถึงแม้การใช้หีบห่อจะแตกต่างจากเมืองที่สามเวียงจันทน์ที่เป็นเมืองหลวง อยู่ติดแม่น้ำโขงและจังหวัดหนองคาย ซึ่งหีบห่อที่พบเห็นส่วนใหญ่ผลิตและบรรจุในระบบอุตสาหกรรม ใช้วัสดุหีบห่อประเภทพลาสติก แก้ว และโลหะ จากการพบเห็นจึงพอสรุปได้ว่า หีบห่อที่พบเห็นทั้งหมดได้ทำหน้าที่ของหีบห่อโดยสมบูรณ์นั้นคือ 1) มีการเอื้อต่อประโยชน์ต่อการใช้สอยและคุ้มครองป้องกัน 2) ให้การเก็บรักษาสิ่งที่บรรจุภายใน 3) สะดวกในการขนส่ง และ 4.มีผลต่อการจำหน่าย แต่ที่สร้างความโดดเด่นนั่นคือหีบห่อจากวัสดุธรรมชาติได้ทำหน้าที่ที่มากกว่าคือให้ความสวยงามตามแบบศิลปะของท้องถิ่นนั้น ๆ ทำให้เห็นซึ่งวัฒนธรรมของท้องถิ่น เป็นส่วนสร้างแรงดึงดูดนักท่องเที่ยว ส่งผลดีทางการตลาด และเป็นผู้อนุรักษ์สิ่งแวดล้อมไปด้วยในขณะเดียวกัน เป็นแนวทางที่น่าสนใจสำหรับการนำไปใช้ในการหีบห่อที่ต้องการสร้างความน่าสนใจอย่างมีเอกลักษณ์           This article discusses the visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
